Game of Harddrives..

A Good Harddrive Is a Working Harddrive..
New (internal) hdd arrived (old one had bad block errors, brr), and after a more successful encounter with Fedora (working soundcard, font tool in Photoshop works) than the last time (roughly 2 years ago, Fedora 10), I returned for Windows, for now.. but the intention was to do a dual boot install, only Fedora didn't think the C windows partition was shrinkable and I got the impression one ought to shrink that very partition for that to succeed. But N thought as long as I picked a partition, the dual boot should work. Remains to be seen that. I haven't had time to install Fedora since my oldest external hdd decided it not only would keep on giving me those lovely paging errors, but a definite disk error. And when I tried copying files from it, it eiher protests that the files are corrupt, or only copies over the folder and nothing else.

In other words, I now have a 150 gigs partition for C, my windows OS install partition, that I had intended to shave off to 50 gigs and leave the rest for Fedora. And yes, I have a bunch of more partitions, just for the heck of it and apparently 'cause I'm strange that way ;)

But tell me this.. am I the only one using the file explorer or progs like Irfanview (image browsing program with basic image/batch editing capabilities) to browse pics, and when I find a pic I want to work/edit, I copy that image via ctrl c and toggle to my usually already open up Photoshop window/program and paste it with ctrl v? ..I'd much rather do that than browse file listing for the filename, and then click it to open up in PS. It just seems like I have to go backwards for the same thing that can be done so much smoother with ctrl c and ctrl v and quick toggling.

Game of Thrones Cosplay Linkage
And now for some fandom creativity!

Firstly, interesting blog writeup about how the costume details in Game of Thrones really add character's personality and background.

Secondly, video about the look of lived-in costumes and well-thought through cultural reflections of costumes in the show.

Thirdly, some of the Game of Thrones cosplaying or in general costumes I've found on the web!
(feel free to comment with more linkage!)

..some found via this thread on cosplay.com, and a thread here on LJ about DragonCon Cosplaying..

- Khaleesi Dany @ PAX Seattle 2011
..discussion about suitable material and wip photos for this sort of costume can also be found here!

- Sansa & Cersei @ New York Comic Con

..and for a loot of more cosplay piccies on flickr, clickie heeeeeere!

In other words..

I've had my eye on that flowy dress the character Ros wears in King's Landing for a while now. My fingers are just itching to get started on a trial and error basis for pattern finding of some sort. I think I'll start by making a dress in Hlín size, ie 1/4 scale! Then again, her pear shaped figure might pose of a problem for this sort of dress, but one way to find out..

DESIGN
Seems to have a sheer cottony fabric, seams in both sides, and thus at least two bits of fabric? I at least could have sworn I saw a side seam when she put the dress on.

front piece
I assume the scrunched up part in the front is sewn together, not just sewn with an um for a lack of better word, curtain rail opening, and then scrunched together with the cord

back piece
Same as for front piece, only much more scrunched together, and with what looks like a metallic coil at the back, in addition to the cord keeping things together?
