Wonky graphics card - (more) recs for new one wanted!

Started up puter on the 26th. No Digital or Analogue signal, said monitor...
Eeeeeek, said I.

Suspected graphics card, and/or cable was being naughty. Then I remembered the SATA cable between motherboard and HDD has been wonky in the past, and thought that was the issue. In retrospect, I should've realised I did hear the puter boot as usual.. But anyhow, turns out my ASUS EAX1300PRO Silent/TD/256MB graphics card has turned wonky.

Luckily, we found my (10 years) ooooold Radeon 7000. Seems I have a and I quote, "freaky motherboard", since it has both PCIe and AGP, but that card worked, whew.

I have my suspicions with playing WoW a bit every now and then, but it was some days ago that I played last.. so if that was the reason, somewhat delayed burnout, or what to call it. Save for the network card, the now defunct graphics card was probably the oldest component in my puter setup. And right now the current certainly is ;)

I usually surf, edit photos, fiddle with various fan illustrations and what not, and play a little Q2, GW and lately WoW, and sometimes other puter games, as well as watch some movies on my puter occasionally. In other words, it's not a hardcore graphics card that I need, as long as it handles imagery and colours very well, and games like WoW ok.

The neo has recommended a GeForce 9500 as new graphics card. So I need to decide if I should get a fanless, or one with fan (there are a few different versions of each, more of the fanned one though). Apparently I am crazy even considering one without fan. But I do not like noise, and fans can be noisy.

Has anyone else tried a GeForce 9500? Impressions/opinions?
Any other graphics card you would recommend?
