Hmmm, that was a productive day ...
i started on the garden about 8am. It was hot, very hot by 11'ish when i had my 5 bags of weeds. i had thought i would finish those weeds this weekend but todays effort hardly put a dent in them. Mum & Dad took the bags to the dump after lunch, but it was too hot to work in the garden in the middle of the day so i put it off.
Then i got into the kitchen. Mum and Dad went to the movies this afternoon so i had the house to myself. i saw this recipe for kumara, leek and sage frittata the other day and thought it might be a nice way to use up a leek so i made it for dinner. Except it uses 3 extra egg whites, so what was i to do with the yolks? The only yolk recipe i know is icecream so the plan was to make some vanilla icecream at the same time. But then the recipe wanted 2 cups of cream and i only had one, so i fell back on the nutella icecream recipe.
Then i was thinking "what am i going to have with the frittata for dinner". Originally i was going to have a salad with it, but i also saw a recipe for cheesy carroway bread that i wanted to try. It actually goes with a carrot and lentil soup that i also want to try, but not today lol. So, since we had the ingredients i made that to go with dinner as well. It was vey nice. It's bread, toasted on one side and topped with crushed garlic, carroway seeds, parsley and grated parmesan cheese ... but i added some grated cheddar, just because i could. Then it's grilled until the cheese is melted. Mmmmmm. Did i mention it was good?
Plus i made some wholemeal bread. So it was a busy afternoon in the kitchen.
Not much on tv tonight. i have to go though all my cupboards and toss out some stuff soon, so i might do that tonight. i keep telling myself that i should do it, but then i get distra .. oh, there's a pretty butterfly.
