(no subject)

I have been looking at places to do my PhD. My only problem is knowing where I am in the American university system, otherwise I might end up applying to places which I'll never get into, or places which aren't good enough.

So far the list is:
Amherst Massachusetts
MIT
UCLA
Pennsylvania
Michigan
Chicago

This is subject to change, some have really good departments but I am not sure their research is heading in the same way as mine.

Anyway it is going to cost me a small fortune to apply to all these, let's hope they all want a small Brit with a love of languages! And phonology, especially phonology people!

Also now I'm wondering who to get to write me letters of recommendation, I've already got the head of department on-board, maybe it is time to tackle my phonetics and phonology prof, but who else? Maybe my dissertation supervisor, or my Italian professor. Hmmn.

Life is exciting, possibilities are endless, regrets are futile; show me the road and I'll drive it.
