Supervisor Angst
Somehow the week progresses despite a minor series of fiascoes involving hiring new student employees. The Student Library Personnel coordinator is incompetent at best. I can't possibly explain the intricacies of her latest cock-up in less than five pages of text, so I can summarize as follows:
Must hire four students and have them start by September seventh.
Personnel Woman with Large Portion of Frontal Lobe Hopelessly Atrophied somehow does not regard my urgent request for a job listing as urgent.
Submitted request for job listing on Wednesday, August 24th. Job listing will not be posted until August 31st at the earliest. This gives me approximately one week to screen, interview, hire and fill out mounds of forms so my potential candidates can start on September seventh.
That pretty much sums up my week thus far.
In addition, Former Student that left last Friday called to report that she had not yet received her final paycheck as of yesterday afternoon. Some bizarre law dictates that they must have a final check in their hands on the last day of employment. Personnel Woman with Large Portion of Frontal Lobe Hopelessly Atrophied apparently didn't send the check urgently by courier on Monday afternoon, as promised. Never mind the fact that the bloody woman had plenty of time and notice to have the check cut before Former Student's last day.
It must be a great joy to come to work and sit with both fingers firmly jammed up your nose instead of actually doing your bloody job.
