I walk down Charles Street every morning on my way to work. It is in Beacon Hill, one of the most historic and photogenic neighborhoods in Boston, and the whole street has a very European feel. There are cobblestone sidewalks and gelato shops and fancy signs hanging from the side of each store. There are always a lot of people walking their dogs or pushing baby strollers. A couple of weeks ago they were filming an Anna Faris movie at one of the outdoor cafes.
There is even a little grocery store with fruit and vegetable stands out front, just like I saw all over Europe. At least there was until yesterday, when it burned down. I read about the fire while I was in the office, oblivious to the chaos taking place just a few blocks away. There were still fire trucks in front of the building today, and water running down the street. Remnants of trampled fruits and vegetables covered the ground.
Almost every morning I see a cute blonde girl walking down Charles Street in the opposite direction as me. She is always wearing a dress and crazy shoes. She really intrigues me for some reason.
