I learned a few new things tonight when I saw and heard Canadians Farooq Burney and Kevin Neish speak. They were aboard the Mavi Marmara when it was attacked by Israeli commandos. Farooq and Kevin shared their eyewitness accounts of the raid, and their experiences in Israeli detention.
I learned a thing or two: Kevin had his boyscout pen knife taken from his baggage when he boarded, they were so strict about not having weapons aboard. He threw away his camera and hid the chip in his body - that's how he got his photos out.

He saw two men who'd been executed at close range with shots to the head.
Farooq went to bring 69 computers plus materials for schools - it seems these donations were all buried at a dump by Israel.

The donated electric wheelchairs made it in, but the batteries were missing. While in prison, someone's credit card was used by soldiers to buy beer, another's cell phone rung up hundreds in charges.
The Jordanian government got all those who were from countries without diplomatic relations with Israel out with the Jordanians. The Turkish planes refused to leave without the rest of those detained. Kevin and Farooq were not helped by the Canadian Embassy.
