Miniminx also told me she wanted Chrissie (Hynde) to come to our house and sing, and that Chrissie could "bring her friends Jamie and Pete and Martin" with her. I didn't have the heart to tell her the first two were dead or, as miniminx says, "non-living".
"Charlie Wilson's War" was really good! You should take into account, though, that before that I hadn't seen a movie since July, when I saw "Living Hard, Dying Harder" or whatever the latest Bruce Willis was. So my standards might have gotten pretty low. But yeah, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is pretty much a genius and I think you'd really enjoy the character he plays.
I usually don't read about music for the very reasons you give, but I figured in this case I was far enough removed from British post-punk that I could risk it. Also, I read a fantastic book about Big Star a couple of years ago and it didn't alter my enjoyment of their music. I completely understand keeping the childhood rebels and heroes intact, though. rochefort's revelation via a biography she was reading about one of my personal icons broke my heart. So I won't tell you what it was.
And lastly, awwwww! That's so nice. I posted and then went off wondering who the hell would even read or care, so thank you. ((hugs))
