Just got up two hours ago at 3:00, I wanted to get up at 2, but my alarm clock didn't prove to be as affective as it usual is. This all the effect of me going to bed at 8:30am. Yep, you read correctly. 8:30am
I started working on Sephiroth's feathers yesterday, there's more than a hundred of them, and I realized after I did about five that I would be there all night.
You can't fit your finger in most of the spaces so I had to blend using the white blending tool that looks kinda like a joint... You draw in the middle stalk, then put in the black around it, blend it in and if you didn't put enough black you blend again with more pastel. Then you go over with two different grays for the pieces that branch off the stalk, then use the blending tool again to blend the edges and make it look less harsh. This process was repeated over and over and over again till I was sick of it. Then in the end you go over it with white for a few of the branches and then blend a little again. Then blend any white spots where there should be black, and if you ever worked with pastel, there will always be a lot!
So got done with the feathers around 6am and then started on his hair, which was a bit more difficult than I thought. White hair is annoying cause you gotta make sure it doesn't get too dark and I had to get rid of all the black dust that came off when I did the feathers, also had to mess with the blue parts of the sky cause they got the black pastel dust on them too. In the end I had to redo it.
::sigh:: It was a long process. But in the end I got done around 7:30 or so and then I had to go shower and try to get off all the pastel that had wedged into my finger prints. I still have stained hands, gonna take a while to go away. Especially since I still have to work on my Salvador Dali piece. I gotta finish the drawing stage today so I can start shading in tomorrow or maybe tonight with charcoal. I need to get it done by Wednesday for my portfolio review and I need to finish the shading on my perspective piece....
I hate finals. One more week at UH and then all I have to worry about is my Astronomy and Algebra Exam.
Sorry I couldn't make it to the party Victoria. I feel like I'm still in Ms. Collins class near the time of AP exams, I went nuts trying to finish projects at home before I found out UH wouldn't take the credit. Hope you had fun, and if you read this before tomorrow, tell your dad I said hi.
