I finally looked for
Sherlock on youtube to watch. I was excited because it was a Moffat/Gatiss collaboration and it has been hyped up for weeks now, and blimey! Basically, IT WAS LIKE DOCTOR WHO ON CRACK. No surprise because this new adaptation is the brainchild of two of Who's more famous fanboys and writers (minus Russell). This version of Sherlock Holmes was the Eleventh Doctor on serious overdrive, except that the Doctor wouldn't have done that bit near the end which I won't say because of SPOILERS! Otherwise it's downright brilliant. A very dark, very rude, very cranky, very very very brilliant version. The Moff's hallmarks were spectacularly carried out by the very cool Benedict Cumberbatch (this is the man that turned down the opportunity to become Eleven, no less) and the awesome Martin Freeman. Mark Gatiss was HILARIOUS.
I liked that the clues to the mystery were laid out so that the audience could see it too, plus that whole 'Your taxi is here' bit practically screaming that the killer was there even if Sherlock and co weren't paying attention (I was kinda yelling at my computer screen then). Great acting, great story, great camera work and direction. Ooooh I can't wait for the next episode...Euros Lyn is directing!
