Last. Post. Ever.

Apr 03, 2005 00:04

You heard that title correctly, folks. I, Pat Lord, Master of Magnetism, am making my last LJ post. I'm going to share some things, correct some things, babble about some things, and then sign off forever. Don't cry though, I'll still be hovering around to read everyone elses' and comment.

First off, the corrections.

1)My brother alerted me to the fact that I got "Dr. M"'s name wrong. It is not Dr. Metropolis but Dr. Manhattan. Nuclear powered god...manhattan project...nevermind. I've already performed the necessary rites of shame and disgrace for my greivous error, don't worry.
2)Um...there is no 2

Now then, to the sharing.

This is actually the section for why I discuss why I'm no longer going to post (Sam, here comes some emo-i think). College is coming, and my life is getting crazy. Recent events have also showed me a few things about myself, and not many of them were positive. I am no longer going to update because I no longer feel like venting and touching into my emotions. I wrote a mini-comic called "A Walk." I want to scan it and show people...but anyway. Life is too short for me to tap into and dwell on emotions. Every emotion I ever expressed was genuine, and absolute. But, as is my nature, I have changed. Do I still love and cherish all those around me? Yes. More than you all could understand. Do I feel the need to express that emotion over the internet? No. I've decided my time is better spent showing all of you. Life is a road, and you gotta keep on moving forward. LJ is an excuse for not being true to yourself, and those around you. I am not going to type about my day and tell you how much I care about you, I will tell you in person, or over the phone (even though its the devils tool and im on a "fuckin crusade"). Emotions are the main problem. I'm pretty much going to try to remaster mine, get them under control, then express them in more constructive ways. LJ doesn't help me, it just aggravates my emotions with ranting that builds them up. I love you all, and it's time I showed you instead of having you read it off some goddamn computer screen.

What LJ post is complete without babbling?

I just finished issues 19-63 of the Doom Patrol, which are all the issues written by Grant Morrison. Why is that special? Because Morrison is one of the men who inspired me to write, and that run showed me why. I love comic books, and it doesn't matter what you say to me about being a nerd. Very few realize how powerful a medium they really are. There's more to comics than "Superman! Zap! Pow!" There is betrayal, politics, drama (i know, i know), discussion of reality, proposal of new theories, representations of ideologies and so much more. If you are one of the people who read "The Da Vinci Code" and loved it, try picking up any comic book. They have pictures, are much better written, and have much more interesting plots. Dan Brown had a cool plot, but the man shouldn't be allowed to write a nutrition facts label for water. Comics are a huge part of my life, and I honestly believe more people should give them a chance.

Terri Shaivo shall rest in peace, and this country made me physically ill over that debate. Using people as leverage of any kind is disgusting and every party involved was dispicable. That case is just further strengthened my faith in justice, and the pursuit of it. Her husband obviously had the authority, and the entire debate was appalling.

God Bless and may they rest. Terri Shaivo, Pope John Paul II, Mitch Hedberg, Will Eisner.

Pope John Paul II was a man to be admired. Put aside your qualms with the faith and look at him as a man. Rising from humble beginnings in Poland to become the leader of faith. He was a man of unshakable principle and strength of will. Right or wrong, he was truly admirable.

Mitch Hedberg, 1968-2005. One of the greatest comedians for our generation. Known by all, loved by all. He was taken from us tragically, and he will be missed.

Will Eisner was a comic artist who made major contributions to the art itself. Rest his soul and let his legacy live on in every panel he helped to create.

Elon and Bucknell are two really cool colleges and I'd be happy to go to either one.

If I knew you, you have a place in my heart, if not on this list that I wrote at 12:48AM.

"In Brightest Day
In Blackest Night
No Evil Shall Escape My Sight
Let Those Who Worship Evil's Might
Beware My Power
Green Lantern's Light!"

"May the wind be at your back and the road rise to meet you."

"Hurm."

"Politics are just about making a choice: do you want to be fucked from the right or screwed from the left."

These are Patrick William (Charles) Lord's final thoughts. I again want to say how special you all are to me.

People don't understand one thing. A cape, a mask, and a name don't make a hero. A hero is someone you believe in because you know they believe in you. A hero is someone you would die for because you know they would give up their lives for you. A hero represents all that is good. A hero is a sliver of hope.

You all are the greatest heroes I know. Not gods among men, but men among gods.

Thank you for being a part of my life.

P.S.
If I hear one thing about LJ-Cutting, I will cut your balls off. Or something else, since most of you have no balls.
