My Summer Summary

Jul 11, 2010 10:41

Updating regularly. Who ever had an idea like that? Pfft!
I'm doing pretty well, though! I've just kind of been using Facebook for all of my social things- particularly because I've added all of my favorite LJ people on FB.

As for real life: it was interesting last month, but this month it's back to the same old drag. I had a romantic interest! That's SO FUN, WOW. But we seemed to want different things, and there was a lack of trust and too much passive aggressiveness (ETA: on both of our parts!) there, so I just kind of dropped it. I can't wait for it to happen again, though!

So, this summer, I've pretty much been practicing the skills I've wanted to improve. I've been brushing up on my illustration skills (it's been okay, no more, no less) and programming skills. I really love databases. They're fun to me! I'm so serious. I feel like they should be boring, but I look at them and I go "whoa, I love organizing and sorting things like this, what fun!" I'm so glad (and lucky! DANG, this timing is almost perfect) to have found something I enjoy doing that's also in a growing field.

That's about all for my summer so far. For the remaining few weeks, I'm trying to take out my dreadlocks. It's slow going, but I don't think I'll have to cut off my hair, and that's good enough for me!
Then I'm going to try and get a part-time job, but maybe I should try and wait until the school year begins so I can feel out how much classwork I'll have to do. I'm taking Calculus, and Algebra was the only class that's given me trouble so far. I'll just have to work hard, and I'm not afraid of doing that; I'm just not sure how much time it will eat that I would otherwise spend on finding employment. That's life! I'll work it out.
