So today was my second day off...
We took JP to his doctor's appointment, where they only told him to go get a new MRI from his referral doctor, so... in a week or so he'll have that done and then a week or so after THAT they'll probably wind up doing the knee scope they were supposed to do today.
Ar.
So we came back here for a quick recoup and headed straight for the Salvation Army Arlington, to volunteer there a whopping 6 and a half hours (1:10-7:40 P.M.). We sorted loads of clothes, canned goods, water/liquids, treats and other foods, and miscellaneous other stuff that had been donated for the Katrina refugees that have taken up residence in their gymnasium.
We all met someone interesting - Rebecca had a kitchen guy she called "Sweet Smack" or something to that effect, JP had a reverend who drove a shopping cart full of misc. goodies to people with particular needs all day who called himself Santa Claus, and I had a guy named Keith who was volunteering for his Poli. Sci. class... he was really interesting and really funny, and he was REALLY good at organizing all the nonperishable food items I was working with, so we teamed together and got the whole room as sorted and neat as possible... and it really was sorted and neat and got both of our stamps of approval before all that could be done was done and he decided to go home. I decided to check on everybody else.
It was actually pretty fun. I had some good conversation with Pli. Sci. guy, and the work wasn't too laborous.
We're going back tomorrow morning before I have work. I'm going to weasel my way out of at least an hour or two of down time, though, because I do nothing if it's not on my feet at work, and my feet are -killing- me now... I need time to get the strength back in my toesies and put some food in my stomach, since I work from 2 to 9, and that's usually when I eat both my meals, if I have more than one. Lunch around 2 or 3, dinner around 8. So... if I decide I'm not hungry before work, I'll DIE of hunger.
Maybe Rebecca can give me a $5... there's a popcorn place right near the Petland, and a lot of the girls like to bring in their miscellaneous favorite popcorn flavors for breaks... so... I might wind up following suit. The cheddar popcorn was just delicious. And it got all over my fingers. Mm.
I have such smooth skin - those vibrating razors are the best.
