So the last Friday of my week off. I cannot understand why time flies so quickly when I'm home yet drags so agonizingly slowly when I'm at work. Even though I like my work, and dislike housework, I'd rather be home scrubbing the floors. Well, preferably reading, but you take my point.
I bought another
Russian Holmes movie, The Hound of the Baskervilles. I adore the men who play Holmes and Watson in that series, Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin respectively. They are absolutely adorable, as is their relationship. Oh, Holmes and Watson, I will always love you!
And yes, I know: Sunday is the return of BBC Sherlock! *looks beseechingly at the internet*
So, some links, yes? But just a few this time:
» I found this via the
Cumberbatch Fans LJ community:
Can I have my Sherlock back, please? I think it's a little unfair -- but I love RDJ, so I'm biased -- but doesn't every age get the Sherlock it deserves? I think we're lucky to live in a time when we have two such wildly different Sherlocks. Admittedly I prefer the BBC Sherlock, but RDJ's is a lot of fun. Of course, I'd watch RDJ watch paint dry.
» I've mentioned this blog before,
Yowayoway Camera Woman, because I love her "daily levitations." Brilliant camera work, plus she is beautiful. But Thursday's post was especially poignant because she is
floating with her cat Guru who just died. Goodbye, dear Guru.
» Via Kottke, a short movie (about eight minutes) about
ink and paper that is definitely worth watching. I found it very touching.
» Oh! I forgot to tell you about the coyote. We live in the country, about three miles outside of a small town, in a retirement community surrounded by vineyards (not ours, alas). During our walks we see all kinds of wildlife, and at night I often hear coyotes howling in the distance -- and sometimes not so distantly. A few nights ago, I woke to the sound of scuffling in our backyard. I figured it was possums or skunks fighting or mating. I got up and went to the sliding glass door that looks out onto our back porch to shoo them away, turned on the light and opened the curtains and there, less than four feet from me, was a coyote. ON MY PORCH IN MY BACKYARD. It didn't run when the light came on, when the curtains opened, or when I rapped on the window. It just flicked an ear at me. I was so, so startled -- and frankly a little frightened. I felt as though there wasn't any glass between us. He or she trotted off quite calmly, in no rush at all. I did not sleep well that night, and now when I go out to lock our front gate, I always make a LOT of noise in the hopes if there is another coyote in my yard, it will skedaddle before I go out.
COYOTE. IN MY BACKYARD.
» I've been avoiding Tumblr for over a week now because there were just too many spoiler photos from S2 BBC Sherlock. Every now and then I take a peek and POW see something I do not want to know. *sulks* I will be back to Tumblr-ing as soon as I see the first episode, which I hope will be on Sunday. *more imploring looks at internet*
No matter: I want to share the utterly brilliant artwork of
Reapersun. She's one of the best known on Tumblr and for good reason: her work is funny, smart, and adorable.
Here are all her "Sherlock" tagged drawings; twenty-one pages to enjoy! Oh Reapersun, how are you so awesome?
