Feeling Better at SLU

Aug 27, 2008 13:09

So, I just wanted to say thanks to you all for being my sounding board. Poor Marc has had to hear it from me everyday! I'm feeling more confident about classes. Currently I'm sitting in the library at SLU waiting until class at 4pm tonight. We had a short meeting today at Noon, so I am attempting to be productive. I have a paper to edit from my summer class and I hear the teacher is Old School hard...like grammar and no mixing metaphors...makes me kind of miss English where the teachers didn't care except for on the big things.

Anyway, I know I'm just scared and anxious about starting this process at a new school. I know several of you have been there already: Annie, Krista, Brian...and you all have survived (if not completely in tact at least recognizably in tact ;) ). Anyway, I just felt safe and comfortable at Truman, and I really don't like this whole commuting thing. Things will be better once I settle in more and get moved. Hopefully our Apartment stuff will go smoothly this weekend! I did volunteer to be the Graduate Student Rep for American Studies at the GSA meetings...it is so we are sure our department gets funding for conferences and it looks good on my CV. It will get me more involved and help me meet more people.

Okay, so off to editing my paper on Mental Illness Memoirs...totally interesting stuff. You guys know any good "Madness" narratives...besides Girl, Interrupted...read that one. :)

Love ya all!
