I've arrived back in Santa Cruz after a semi-impromptu vacation to San Diego. IT WAS SUCH A GOOD TRIP. The drive down was awesome, complete with beautiful green hills, blue lakes perfectly matching the bright blue of the sky, squirrels chasing each other, cows grazing, sheep also grazing, gorgeous sunsets filled with colors, and a cop changing his own flat tire (which amused me 'cause I got to imagine running him over). As I entered LA wednesday evening I watched the corn chowder moon rise above the purple city skyline and silhouetted palm trees. I do love southern california, as flawed as it is. Once in San Diego I met up with Matt and Kyle and we all drank and watched movies...then hung out pretty much the rest of my stay, haha. We ate good food, skateboarded, played night soccer in the streets, bummed around our little beach town, ate guava snowcones, drank lots of beer, got some great finds from the thrift stores, LAUGHED OUR ASSES OFF, indulged in great music, wandered the local bazarre, and I personally did a lot of blister draining. My hands hurt so much less when I keep them drained, but they're gonna take forever to heal! Every day was cold but really sunny and every night it rained. Odd. I hung out with my mom a bunch too, which was nice but I'm glad to be away again. Some of the things that that woman says.....sigh. Overall though, us hanging out was good for both of us, and she's holding strong against my father who is already stopping by her house to see her. She didn't even let him in, just told him she didn't want to see him through the window! Hahaha, yes mom, way to go!
Thursday night was spent in LA with the lovely Rosie. Wow this girl is very femme. And I like it! She's pretty rad too, which I like even more, and it was interesting watching so many guys hitting on her while we were at the club we attended. Dancing was awesome, the music wasn't your typical hip hop or techno but something in between I guess you could say. Fun to dance to. Helps that I drank a whole lotta rum and gin that night too. So I ended up crashing at her place in her tiny ass bed smushed up against a very cold wall. Worst 3 hours spent attempting to sleep EVER. But on the up side I got to kiss the beautiful lady, and we intend on seeing each other again.
I'm really looking forward to living in LA I think. The thought of being able to spend more weekends just chillin with the homies in the ENC like I have the past few days is highly appealing. Singing and possibly finding bandmates is highly appealing. Sunshine and city life is highly appealing. Meeting new people is highly appealing. Getting out of Santa Cruz is highly appealing. Yeah.
Driving back north, I stopped for gas in the mountains just above LA. And it was snowing! What an awesome end to an awesome vacation. I feel a bit more whole after my getaway.
Now I just have to find something to do with myself while I dream of places far from here. I'm kinda depressed and hopeful all at once. I'm not sure what to do.
