I hate making these kinds of posts. This was supposed to be a fun and exciting weekend with the musical this weekend, but it has instead turned into one disaster after another.

First thing, my glasses broke 30 minutes before I was supposed to be at the high school Friday night. And of course, they had to break in the worst possible spot. An emergency trip to the eye doctor didn't even fix anything, because they couldn't tape them either, and they didn't have any frames that fit my lenses. The soonest they can get me in for a new eye appointment is Tuesday (it has been a horribly long time since I had my eyes checked), so even with a rush on new glasses, I'm looking at the end of this week before I can see again. Needless to say, I had to sit with my music about 3 inches in front of me so that I could see it.

But the kids were awesome Friday night. We had a full house and Greased Lightning clearly stole the show.

Friday night (or early Saturday morning) a friend of our family's was killed in a car accident outside of town. She was 20 years old and a recent graduate of Abingdon and had been involved in the Theater department while in school. Her mom, who is really good friends with my mom, is the bookkeeper at the school's district office and our accompianist for the musical. We considered canceling the show last night, but opted against it because of the amount of people we would have to contact and the fact that we felt Melinda and her family would want us to go on.

Oh but wait! There's more! Someone broke into the high school Friday night. Nothing was damaged, but it appeared that they were going after the money we brought in from the show becaused nothing else was damaged or taken. Luckily, they weren't able to find the money.

I'll be so happy when this weekend is over.
