Patterning for someone else

Alessia (one of our new young ladies) had asked me for help patterning proper garb for her. We've been hit and miss over getting together to get it done. Its not that we haven't seen each other, its more that every time we are together far too much distraction happens :)

Anywho, we hard tried to do a body block.... I hate doing body blocks on curvy women It more or less ended in frustration for both of us. Friday I had an epiphany. I am not sure what took me so long to get there, but I realized I was totally over thinking things. I had her over yesterday and we free handed a pattern shape based on her measurements. Within 2 hours we had a nicely fitted side lacking bodice pattern for a kirtle for her. SOOOOOO happy!

I sent her home with fabric to cut all her pieces out and tomorrow I will be seeing her to help with construction. I may have accomplished very little for myself this weekend, but making other people look pretty and helping them learn a new skill is more then sufficient to call this weekend a win!

Watching the Hobbit last night and having a great dinner with friends helped too.
