8:30 this morning I'm sleeping and the phone rings. I pick up and it's Shana (pronounced Shawna, right Sar?), Sarah's pregnant aunt, whose kids I babysat alot last summer. So she starts talking to me about the French program I'm doing this summer, and how she did it in Trois Rivieres when she was in university. I'm half asleep and mumbling "uh huh...uh huh". Then she asks me if I would be interested in helping take care of the kids in June, and I said possibly, but I can't really commit to anything. Then Shana says "so, um, I'm actually in labour right now."
I jump up and scream "WHAT?!" and she then tells me that her contractions started a few hours ago, and she would likely be giving birth later that night and would I babysit the kids tomorrow if needed? I started laughing and said this is one of the strangest conversations I've ever had. Definitely the first time anybody has ever called me while in labour, though it was only the beginning stages of it.
