the final countdown!

I will confess that I am slightly disappointed that neither Celegorm nor Fingon made it past the first round. :(

Ties were decided by a random decision maker, and no I am not kidding. XD The ties were between Fingon and Ambarussa (winner: Ambarussa) and Tuor and Celeborn (winner: Tuor).

6. Túrin Turambar
7. Tuor

4. Sandor Clegane

8. Bronn of the Blackwater

CARANTHIR VS. FEANOR! Another match of father vs. son, with plenty of resentment to even the sides! Experience or ferocity, will loyalty override Caranthir's competetive nature, or will he end up unable to face down his formidable father?

FINROD VS. GALADRIEL! Galadriel fights her favorite brother, fresh off the field from facing down her famous uncle. With these two beloved siblings facing each other, which will overwhelm the other when the choice must be made to win or die?

CURUFIN VS. AMBARUSSA! Having demonstrated his mettle in one match, will Curufin be able to defeat the combined power of his two firebrand siblings, or will he succumb early in the second round to their twin determination?

AREDHEL VS.
MAGLOR Fresh off the field from a stunning victory over her cousin Maedhros, Aredhel faces the next eldest Feanorian with head held high and optimistic about her chances - as does the rest of the field. However, Maglor carried his own upset over his younger brother Celegorm, and just might pull off another against his vivacious cousin.

Poll ROUND TWO: NOLDOR

GREGOR CLEGANE VS. a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_Greyjoy#Asha">ASHA GREYJOY! Both recently from an easy defeat of their first opponent, it might be time for Asha Greyjoy to really start flexing her muscles if she hopes to defeat the Mountain himself. Will speed and ferocity serve her well, or will Asha Greyjoy find she's bitten off more than she can chew?

TYWIN LANNISTER VS. SANDOR CLEGANE! The famous lord of House Lannister against the infamous former servant of that house. While Tywin is a great general, his planning skills and intelligence may not be enough to save him if the Hound has him cornered...but then again, his cleverness may serve him well in avoiding that corner in the first place, and backing the Hound into a trap of his own...

PETYR BAELISH VS. TYRION LANNISTER! A battle of intelligence as two of the rumored most brilliant men in Westeros face each other in the ring. Which cunning will prevail, the half man or the Littlefinger? Either way, sure to be a battle full of brilliantly cutting one liners!

BRONN VS. JAIME LANNISTER! The talented mercenary just may face the most challenging fight of his life opposite the Kingslayer, who managed to narrowly defeat his last opponent, Varys. However, Bronn may present a greater challenge...but it is quite possible that Bronn has never faced a man who is the Kingslayer's equal with a sword. Keep an eye on these two to see what happens!

Poll ROUND TWO: LANNISTERS

EARENDIL VS. MAEGLIN! The mariner and the traitor face off, and Maeglin may find himself blinded by the dazzling light of the Silmaril - but then again, Maeglin showed himself a keen and swift fighter in his last battle, and may well do so again, even against this hero of the Eldar.

LUTHIEN VS. ELROND! Luthien faces a challenge - in the form of a relative! Her own grandson, Elrond Half-Elven, finds himself meeting his grandmother for the first time, and even Luthien may choose to turn from this fight. However, even if they face each other, Elrond's own strength should not be doubted, even against Doriath's most famous jewel.

MELIAN VS. TURIN! Melian, moving on from a difficult battle with her son in law, finds herself facing another Man of legend - Turin Turambar, famed among all peoples and destined to strike the final blow in the heart of Morgoth in the distant future. If he can defeat the Valar, surely a Maia should pose no challenge to this brave and dubiously heroic figure...but Melian has defeated powerful enemies of her own, and human mortality may be Turin's downfall.

TUOR VS. HALETH! Human warrior against human warrior, but the warrior maiden Haleth is fresh from a very slight challenge, while Tuor has been severely tired by his difficult contest with Celeborn. In this fight, that slight advantage may be just enough to give Haleth the edge over the more famed Tuor - and another victory!

Poll ROUND TWO: SINDAR ETC.

ROBB STARK VS. THEON GREYJOY! Robb Stark faces his (former?) best friend on the battlefield for the first time after a painful battle with his own mother - and a narrow victory for Mr. Greyjoy. Both boys were quite close when younger, and Theon certainly has guilt to his name...but the fact remains that while evenly matched by themselves, Robb does have the aid of his giant direwolf, who may not prove so tentative about wounding a former friend...

MEERA REED VS. JON SNOW! Frogspear vs. Longclaw! Though these two have never met, both are fairly sensible individuals and quick fighters. While Jon may be better with a sword, Meera is awfully quick with her net - keep an eye on both of them and see who defeats who here - though again, the direwolf Ghost may tip the balance.

EDMURE TULLY VS. BRIENNE OF TARTH! Edmure Tully may have made a respectable showing in his fight with Robert Baratheon, but does he have what it takes to beat the unbeaten Maid of Tarth? Brienne the Beauty faces her second fight, but may not find it much of a challenge - while Edmure is no weakling, he's also no Kingslayer, and the Maid is heavily favored to win in this battle.

ARYA STARK VS. LYANNA STARK! Arya may find her first challenge of the round facing the aunt she never met - and the one she is often compared to. Will they match not only in appearance and temperament, but also in skill? Lyanna is certainly older, and may have the benefit of strength, but Arya's assassin training served her well in the last match, and her ruthlessness just may give her the edge, even on a woman of similar boldness.

Poll ROUND TWO: STARK
