I heard through the grapevine that some girl/woman came in the store looking for a gift for her boyfriend and I was rude to her. Apparently I was condecending to her because she didn't know anything about comics. I just don't believe it happened that way. I enjoy talking to people who don't know anything about comics. But when someone asks for "that comic with that guy" or wants something that doesn't exist or hasn't been made in years there's only so much I can do. If someone can provide me with the smallest detail I can usually find something for them. Or a good substitute. I'm there to sell things when it comes down to it. But sometimes people expect to get the comic shop guy from the Simpsons and won't be satisfied unless the experience fits that. Even if they have to make it that way. I could have been busy. When I'm on my own and there are people everywhere each needing to ask me something and the phone is ringing nonstop, I do tend to get overwhelmed and the individual customer service suffers unfortunately. The only thing I can remember recently is a girl looking for Bondage Fairies comics which we don't carry (or anything else like that, not passing judgement we just don't) and I showed her other manga comics but there's isn't anything like that in the store to substitute. She said that he had other comics and I told her to look at those, give me names or names of creators, and we could go from there. But that was the last I saw of her. Oh well I try not to take it personally at least. Can't please everyone.
