Korra found her in the gardens, sipping a glass. “Who’d have thunk, hn?” She opened, motioning with her head towards the party.
Asami smiled. “Well, there had to be more to it than a pay check if she was willing to put up with him as long as she did.”
“Point.”
It was Asami who broke the comfortable silence. “Have you ever thought about it? Getting married, I mean. Ever wanted to?”
“I… thought about it once or twice. You know, superficially. Aang was married. My parents are married. People marry. So maybe I should too, one day? I didn’t like the idea that much. Why marry and be stuck doing wife things when I could be out there, being the Avatar!” Korra thrust her arms up dramatically, then dropped them with a chuckle. “Kyoshi was my favorite. She never married.”
“And then with Mako?”
Korra shook her head. “Honestly? No. What about you?”
“Me? I was more than grateful that my father gave me freedom to choose for myself instead of arranging something.” Then she said something that made Korra choke. “I’ve been thinking about it again though.”
“R-really!? I-I mean, hum, why?”
Asami just linked their hands together.
