My chopsticks, let me show you them

Tee hee I got metal chopsticks yesterday, they're so awesome <3.

I just learned that I've been holding chopsticks "wrong" all my life, so I'm trying to do it the proper way.

WRONG-->

RIGHT-->

See the difference? Apparently the ends aren't supposed to meet. I used to use my chopsticks like scissors, crossing them at the point I hold them, but apparently the bottom chopstick isn't supposed to move and the top one instead does all the work. Not sure if I'm explaining properly, but yes. New revelation.

Also yesterday was Dale's birthday so we celebrated with awesome brownies and Japanese food (unagi is so delicious) and a days' worth of shopping. We also gave him a super-Christian card because he's a scientist/atheist. Irony is beautiful.

I've also been reading a LOT of manga (why am I not studying?!), a lot of them genderbenders. Hwang Mi Ri (I've mentioned some of her stuff before) writes a TON of genderbender manhwas but they're all mildly irritating because she just loves to recycle the same character archetypes and it's not original at all (it's always the tough girl who can fight and acts like a dude, with all these hot guys who fall for her). In addition, her art style is annoying. I'm not sure why I'm still reading her stuff.

What I want to recommend, however, is this amazing manga I just picked up today called Return by Miura Noriko. I wasn't expecting much from the start but it really blew me away. It's old (1994) but still manages to be refreshing and decent, storyline/premise especially. The art is what you can expect from the 90s, and besides, the subtleties in facial expression are great (reminds me of one of my top 10, Ashita no Ousama, which is about stage acting, so subtle expressions are a must).

I normally don't like Mangafox summaries but this one does an okay job of summarizing so I'll copypaste here: Morisawa Kai and Sato Tatsuki are best friends. However, unlike Kai, Tatsuki is completely unreliable, lazy and ill-tempered. One day Tatsuki takes Kai out driving in his new motocycle only to get into a bad accident that leaves Kai dead. However, Kai's spirit ends up in a body of a girl named Fujii Marika. After seeing how cold and unaffected Tatsuki as well as everyone else was after his death, Kai transfers to his previous school in which he starts noticing flaws to Tatsuki's cool mask...

It's really a lot more realistic than the typical "guy dies and ends up in female body" manga! I've read several (meaning at least 5) and this is by far the best in terms of how the dead guy thinks and interacts with the other characters, dealing with being a girl, the deal with what happens to the girl's soul while he inhabits it, etc. The only shame is that it's not done being scanlated yet, I'm dying to find out how it ends (it feels like it'll be tragic, but we'll see).
