The internet has failed me. I've tried searching before but I don't know why THIS time I thought I might find a match.
I once read a book at school which I think was called "The Boy With Red Hair (and other short stories)". I only remember that one story was titled something like "The Boy With Red Hair" and another was about a time travel holiday to Gethsemane where a family went to witness the crucifixion. All the stories were sci-fi related in some way and all of them were mind blowing. I remember the story about Gethsemane was particularly good - describing how the tourists were required to blend in with the crowd and not stand out - how the conditions were primitive and they were uncomfortable... and it all basically led up to this point where, determined to fit in and not stand out one of the boys yells 'Free Barabas' at the appropriate time - except that they end up STARTING the crowd off. The story ends with the realisation that they are responsible for the death of Jesus. I'm not explaining it very well but whatever. I would love to read this book again but I cannot find anything on the net. I don't remember anything about any of the other stories - or what was so good about the title story about the boy with red hair.
I wish I could remember what teacher gave me that book because then maybe in desperation I could email them (if they still work at my school). Of course, I graduated in 1992.
