(no subject)

This past weekend was the Penny Arcade Expo, hearafter known as PAX. Of course, Andrew had to go work at ArenaNet's booth, and I went with them on Saturday. So, we get to Seattle about 9ish, and I almost can't get in since I only have a one-day pass (and it's not open yet) but we find a really cool Enforcer (security) who decides to let me in because I'm with exhibitors. Most setup was already done from Friday, so we just walked around while there weren't any crowds. From 10-11 I helped at the booth giving out access codes for fans to get a mini-pet for their characters. That was pretty cool, and afterwards Andrew and I toured the expo again now that it was open. Andrew had to go back and work after that, so I found myself a quiet corner and started my new book. Around 1 we had time to find lunch. Unfortunately there aren't many food choices in the convention center, and nobody really wanted Subway. We went down to a pizza place, which was the worst choice we could've made. There was one guy working. Not just one guy on the register, but one employee in the whole store. Yeah... There was a huge line through the store, even out the door, and the one guy working had to stop and make more pizzas. We were standing in line for a good 30 minutes, it was horrible; we figured the guy was the owner and everyone else had ragequit on him. I can't believe he even attempted to stay open during a huge convention. It would've been smarter for him to just close and put a sign up saying something along the lines of "Due to the absence of staff, we are temporarily closed" because really... Andrew and I are going to write letters to the convention center suggesting they terminate the lease. The rest of the afternoon was fine, and at 5 we were off to Gameworks.

The company had rented out Gameworks for an after-party, and we had to go help set up. From 6-7 only invited guests could come in. After 7, anyone who had a PAX pass could get in, and everyone got a free gameplay card, a t-shirt, drink tickets, and the opportunity to win some cool swag by playing certain games. There was also food, which was really good but went too fast. At 9pm Gameworks opened to anyone, and that was when we started trying to leave. I had to get up at 5am to go to work the next morning, but as always people were slow. We finally left Seattle (after nobody paid attention to where we parked in the convention center garage) at 10:30, and got home at 11. After work on Sunday, I fell asleep on the couch and missed people calling me to go do stuff :( I was so worn out by the weekend.
