Getting tired of that ugly Myspace Homepage? Well, I have something that just might help! I created a Greasemonkey Userscript to override the default Myspace Homepage and make it much more appealing! What do you need to do? I knew that was coming next.
1. Download
Firefox. If you don't already use it, you should. Seriously. IE sucks.
2. Download the
Greasemonkey Extension. It's really useful and there are a lot of cool userscripts out there. Some of my favorites are listed at the end of this post.
3. Install
my userscript. Go here, click "Install this Script" in the blue box on the right, then click the "Install" button that appears above all the code.
4. Customize, if you like! You can use any text editor to Search and Replace colors I used in the layout. Just open your Greasemonkey extension options (Tools > Extensions > Greasemonkey > Options), click on my userscript, then click edit. I only really recommend this if you know what you are doing, but have fun with it. You can always reinstall the userscript. :)
And that's it! Easy, right? Just to be extra nice, here are some more cool Myspace userscripts. There are lots of cool scripts at UserScripts.org for just about every website. I use a lot of LiveJournal as well as Last.fm, Google, Flickr and many, many more. Just look around and you'll find a thousand of them you just can't live without. I, personally, use these for myspace and think they aid in the whole "experience":
•
Ignore Bulletins - Lets you ignore bulletins from certain users. Perfect for band bulletins and people who post way too much. LOL.
•
Add Image Links 2 - Look at the screenshot above.. see the little images under the myspace profile pictures? It links to just about anything. Post a comment, send a message, view pictures. It's really useful because you don't have to go to a person's page to perform basic actions.
•
Title Fixer - It adds more information to the window titlebar to let you know where you are. Perfect when using tabbed browsing. Otherwise you have 10 tabs all named Myspace.com.
