Title: Hearts Entwined

Rating: All Ages

Genre: Drama, Hurt/comfort

Summary: It was something that had been in her pocket, something that he had bought her, just before they had landed on the Powell Estate, and everything had gone so horribly wrong.

Author's Notes: Un-beta'd, post Doomsday hopeful fic.

Snow flutters onto the marble floor, as a door is softly closed and opened. Rose Tyler pulls the pins out of her bun, letting the waves of silky golden hair flow past her shoulders, sending the smell of vanilla and cherry off to linger in the air. She toes off her pristine white converse, and pads softly through the grand entrance hall, and up the stairs. She slips down the hall, and into her bedroom, closing the door softly behind her, and pulling her prize out from her coat pocket.

It's a charm, for a bracelet: two entwined hearts. She crosses the room to her bed, and carefully sets the charm on the bedside table, before reaching into the little box she kept on the bedside table at all times, and opening it. Inside lie a golden bracelet, the only material possession she had brought to this world. It was something that had been in her pocket, something that he had bought her, just before they had landed on the Powell Estate, and everything had gone so horribly wrong. A tear slides down her face as she unclasps the bracelet, and slides the charm on.

Despite the tears now clouding her vision, she smiles, and looks outside. It was Christmas Eve, and it was snowing. It was beautiful. Last year, she had been with him. The memories don't fill her with pain anymore, because she's filled with renewed hope. She'll be able to go back soon. For now, she just wipes away the tears, and puts the bracelet on. She crosses over to her window, and sits in the window seat, coat still on, and Rose Tyler looks out over the snowy landscape, eyes going up, and up, until they reach the stars.
