I really, really, really don't get this Avatar the Last Airbender movie casting wankathon lately.
Hollywood whitewashed a movie. Who'd have thought? Big fucking news. Why was even anyone hoping for anything less?
The part I don't get the most is where people are boycotting the movie and calling for people to not go see it, and if they do, they are "totally judging them". And at this point I really am envisioning angry groups of protesters with signs, yelling at parents and kids about how stupid they are. Because really? This sort of behavior makes you no better than the tripe you're protesting against. It's like gay pride parades--not part of the solution.
tl;dr If I want to go see this movie, I fucking will. If it's bad, it's bad, and I've wasted my money. But thing is, you don't get to judge me--anyone--over it. I am not a "racist" person, although many, it would seem, would really enjoy slapping that label. I just don't fucking give a shit! IT'S HOLLYWOOD! What the fuck did you expect? What you deserve is a slap on the tits, some advice to grow thicker skin, and actually good advice that if this problem bothers you so much, you should try overcoming it with a more healthy solution instead of wailing about on the internet relentlessly irritating the fuck out of people who don't care. It's about as helpful as duct-taping roadkill back together.
