You know what I got?

Huge pic I know, but I wanted to show off my latest adventures in miniature painting. The painted girl on the right is Alaine from Reaper's Dark Heaven Legends line and the guy on the left

IS RAISTLIN OMG TAKHISIS ON A CRACKER.

He arrived this morning. *happydance*

His lack of ARMS and his severed HEAD lying in front of his feet takes nothing away from the sheer grace of him. He's essentially "the Sorcerer" from Nocturna Miniatures... which is Elmore!Raistlin, with a typical "I might just keel over if I don't hang on tight to this staff" gaypose. I'm pretty sure they couldn't pull off the licensing, so they never bothered -- and honestly, I'm happy either way. I'm happy such a miniature exists!

Anyway, some details:

It's a fucking brilliant sculpt, and I am totally not saying this because I'm biased or anything... ehhh. Yeah. I'm in love with it. I will shit my pants a thousand times while painting him.

Which brings me to what color I should paint him in. Since this is Raistlin, I have two options:Red and Black (and though the guy DID wear white for a while as an apprentice, since he looks so broken and about to keel over here white is out of the fucking question. White robes suck anyway.)

I would LOVE to paint him in black, mostly because black robe Raistlin just... blows everything out of the water. But then the thing is -- black anything is a fucking pain in the ass to paint, and mostly way out of my league. I won't be able to paint in black, I'll have to paint in blues and greys. And I really don't want a blue/grey mass.

Also, I like to think of black robe Raistlin as someone that has pretty much found his footing on the world and doesn't walk around like a pushover hunchback of Notre Dame. Pffffft. Epic wizard anyone? Delayed fireballs and time stops, yo.

Red, on the other hand is a great color, attention-demanding, and it looks good on a miniature if I say so myself. Hmmm hmm. And the in concept art for this miniature, the guy was indeed red. (Also, daaaaayum I really hate looking at that picture. That look, man.)

So I'm going with red. I suppose. \o/ Some major pants-shitting will soon commence.

And before I FORGET ABOUT HER BECAUSE I WAS TOO BUSY OGLING RAISTLIN'S AMAZING 54MM MANLINESS, Alaine:

Still a WIP, but going good--need to fix that crooked smile of hers (but I really don't wanna) and finish the base (those are real rocks! I went outside in the yard to grab them from the DIRT). Great sculpt, except for the huge-ass sword.

Ahh, minis...
