Torchwood 1x10 - Out of Time
Eh, that was kind of boring. Talky, emotional, and character-driven, which is normally a good thing, but it felt very slow somehow. Not bad really, but not remarkable either.
I really liked the scene in the supermarket where they were all bewildered but also excited at all the new things. And Ianto was deadpan snarky there, which was funny. 'Yes, bananas are more interesting,' hee! Emma was really quite adorable. Buying all that candy at the supermarket and emptying the teabags into the pot! I'm glad that she embraced the chance at a new and exciting life at the end.
Have Gwen and Owen broken up then? Or stopped sleeping together or whatever? Or is that still going on, just way off in the background? And what about Jack and Ianto? Why do they drop these subplots?
Next week: a dropped subplot is picked up again! Weevils, yay!
Dexter 1x12 - Born Free
ASDFGHHJJKLL:::DQWDQNHAIPH. *flails* I have so much love for this show that it renders me incoherent. Asgfjkhgkk.
That was such a perfect season finale. It wrapped up the main plot of the season (The Ice Truck Killer), while leaving a few things open to be continued next season (Rita's possible suspicions that Dexter had something to do with Paul's re-imprisonment, Doakes' suspicions about Dexter in general, etc.). And it was sad and suspenseful and funny in all the right moments. This really is the best new show of the season. Michael C. Hall is utterly deserving of that Golden Globe.
So the new Lieutenant that Captain Matthews brought in is only putting on the show that she is against everything LaGuerta does? That's the feeling I got. If so, that's good, because I've come to like LaGuerta over the last couple of episodes. :P Also, I've gone from feeling very neutral about Angel to really adoring him.
I was really hoping for awhile there that Rudy would stay on the run and somehow come back next season, but of course he came back, and of course Dexter killed him, and it all worked out perfectly. When he slit his throat and tilted him upside down on that table thing, then sat in the corner and broke down, it made me cry.
And then that ending! AHAHAHAHA! 'Way to go Dexter, protecting our children!' And everyone cheering him on and throwing confetti! Heeee! Such a perfect ending. When does series two start? ;P
And now I am going to go out and brave the malls to finish off with Christmas shopping. Actually, to finish off my mother's Christmas shopping, because she says she doesn't have the time to do it herself. She just gave me a list of people to buy things for and told me to have stuff for tonight. Hopefully it won't be too busy. I don't mind busy malls so much as the lines for the cash register and congested parking lots.
arkanefyre! I'm going to go to the garden store tomorrow. Did you need pots as well, or just the soil and stones? And what time should I get there on Friday morning, oh odd person who does not want to sleep in on her first day of Christmas vacation? ;P
