I am waaaay too invested in this show
rumors have been flying about the 3 songs each Adam & Kris are doing tonight for the finale. apparently, it will be a reprise of the contestant's favorite performance of his own, a Simon Fuller (the show's creator) choice, and then the "coronation" song, which will be the winner's first single (which was co-written by Kara... I swear if this song sucks, there will be no way for her to redeem herself).
kill me now. not excited about the idea of a reprise. why would they want them to do a song they've already done instead of something new? which could then give us the opportunity to potentially hear Adam do something by Queen, or Bowie, Guns N' Roses, or Prince... or a million other things I would love to hear him sing. whyyyyy? if they are redoing performances, it means that the judges will automatically compare it to the original... & they can't do it the same way, what would be the point? but if they're going to redo a song in a different way, then it better just blow people out of the water... or it's just going to be it was better the first time.
so... I hope Kris does Falling Slowly... even though some of the judges didn't like it too much. whatev, it's a great song. I would really like for him to mix it up & do it a different way, it could be really cool. & Heartless was his best performance of the season, but it's too recent to do it again, and it was perfect the way it was.
& Adam? lord, I don't even know. he could do Ring of Fire again... but Simon would hate it again, & I would hate it if he changed it. Black or White would be awesome, but since that was the performance that stole my life made me absolutely love him, I don't know if a revamp could live up to it's place in my heart. Mad World. I would die a crying flailing fangirl death & be happy about it. Again, I don't know how he could improve upon the way he did it the first time... it made me cry so much & I love it... & I really would love to see it again... & I have faith that Adam could do something to change it up a bit & still have it be absolutely brilliant. what else? eh, I don't know. I think I'm hoping most for Mad World if they can't pick something new... and it was one of the most talked about performances of the entire show, I mean, Simon Cowell gave him a standing ovation for it - but that brings me back to them comparing it to the first time, which is what they're totally setting them both up for. >_> arg.
& Simon Fuller's choice... please, please let it be something great, and something the fans have been hoping for and wanting to hear. Adam has already gotten screwed out of a few songs he wanted to do, but couldn't, so even one of those would totally make up for not getting a third new song. & then there's the "coronation" song, which according to Idol fans is always cheesy & lame... Kara, so help me if this song sucks. grr. Rumor is that the song is called No Boundaries... please don't be cheesy. it might be good... Adam will make it good. \(^-^)/
edit: 4:45pm - the blog rumors are starting now about the 'contestant's pick' choices... people are saying Falling Slowly for Kris & Mad World for Adam. *SCREAM* I swear, if it's true, I will be nothing but a squeeing, crying fangirl puddle of goo that my mother will have to clean off my bedroom floor. especially since the second part of the rumor is that he's doing it a capella. I don't know if I even want to dare to trust that... (._.) I don't know if I could handle that. I can't waaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiittt. *chews on hands* >_>
