I've just been out to get a ticket to see the lovely Maximilian Hecker live at the Molotow club tomorrow night. Typical that I only found out about it the day before - and I call myself a fan? - but rather that than the day after, I suppose. At least there were tickets left, and only €10 a pop, too.

This last-minute action involved heading halfway across town to the Schanzenviertel. I like the Schanzenviertel. It's all run-down old buildings, graffiti, record shops, second-hand clothes, grubby bars, cheap restaurants. Definitely the kind of place I'd live if I was looking to buy into the image of postgrad/hippie cool. As it stands, I'm happy to hire the image by the hour every so often.

It's actually a really nice day out there, too. Very chilly, of course, but blue skies as far as the eye can see. This always makes Hamburg look prettier than it is anyway, and the U3 line from Barmbek to Sternschanze must cross at least half a dozen canals, all sparkling water, elegant bridges and the occasional suicidal canoeist. Niiiice. Combined with now having something to look forward to this weekend, this has conspired to put me in the best mood I've been in for a good while.
