Jake stood alone in the corner, taking one last slow drag on his cigarette before stubbing it out and tossing it into someone’s cast aside beer can.

He was bored. Deathly bored, and at the point of annoyance actually, but he kept his eyes narrowed, focused on the willowy blonde who swaying her hips to something migraine inducing over in the opposite corner. They’d been sneaking glances and flashing grins at each other at all night.

The girl, Anna, according to the jock in the football jersey standing near the stereo had been elusive, to say the least.

The better part of her night had been spent dancing in one of those extremely lesbian like circles girls usually formed at parties. The ones where they almost grind while staring over their shoulders and gossip about all the guys they think are staring at them.

Anna giggled, sliding her arms around her friend’s neck and yelled, “I love this song!”

Jake rolled his eyes. Maybe Anna was actually a lesbian. He crumpled up his cup and was about to leave, but he heard a giggle and turned around.

“Um, hey. You’re Jake, right?” She flashed him her best flirty smile that had probably been perfected in the bathroom mirror.

He smiled right on back. ‘Yeah, that’s me. How did you know?”

“I asked around,” she said casually, closing the space between them. “Would you like to dance?”

“Not really a dancer,” he replied, giving her what he hoped look like an apologetic look.

“Well, that makes this easier. Do you just wanna come upstairs with me, then?”

Jake grinned. It really was too easy sometimes, and it was always better when they thought it was their idea. “Sure.”

She grabbed his jacket sleeve, pulling him away from the crowd, something that would usually piss him off, but he had gotten a bit of a buzz waiting around and watching her for most of the night so he didn‘t really mind. “Well, are you coming?”

“Hopefully,” he mumbled, following her lead upstairs.

Anna shyly walked into the nearest available room, smoothing out her skirt as she sat on the bed. “I don’t usually do this, if that’s what you’re thinking.”

He grinned. Sure she hadn’t.

They were definitely in someone’s parent’s room judging from the creepy ass Precious Moments figurines on the dresser. Well, at least the bed was a decent size.

“I wasn’t. Wait, you have done this before, right?”

“I’m not a virgin, if that’s what you mean,” she said testily.

Jake held up his hands, fighting back the urge to roll his eyes. “Just checking, wouldn’t want you to do anything you don’t wanna do.”

That was all Anna needed to hear apparently, about ten seconds later Jake was yanked on top of her and she was shoving her tongue in his mouth like there was no tomorrow.

He pulled away soon after, unable to control a laugh. “Whoa, easy there, tiger. I’m all for getting the job done, but you mind not trying to choke me in the process?”

She blushed, and Jake couldn’t help but notice that she wasn’t half bad. Sort of the generic all American apple pie kinda girl with blonde hair, a small frame, and a small cluster of freckles dotting the bridge of her nose.

He couldn‘t help but notice her eyes, which were an unusual shade of ice blue. Not as dark a pair that belonged to someone else he knew, but just similar enough to make him stop and take another look.

“Your eyes are really pretty,” he said honestly, tracing her cheek.

“Uh, thank you? Look are we gonna fuck or what? I know who you are, Jake. You don‘t need to feed me bullshit.”

After recovering from momentary shock, he didn’t waste anymore time and eventually let himself get lost in the familiar sensation of lips on skin, of soft curves and cotton sheets.

This was what every normal red blooded boy was supposed to want, a fuck without complications with a girl who looked like she walked of the set of a WB teen drama. But Jake wasn’t normal, and deep down he knew it. She was too soft, too delicate, too breakable as all those little curves pressed against hardened muscle.

He still managed to focus on the one feature that redeemed her, (despite the smart mouth and her not so subtle way of creeping under his skin even after he had a few beers) her eyes.

He kept his eyes open, fixed on hers for far longer than he usually would have, even as his orgasm started to build and it started to be more trouble than it was worth.

After it was over, and awkward silence threatened to settle in, they quickly parted ways and Jake started to walk home. He turned and started down Theo’s block, surprised to see him on the porch.

“How was the party?” Theo asked, sliding off his headphones as Jake came up the walk, hands shoved in his pockets.

“It was alright.”

“Just alright?”

“Yeah, just alright.”

“Oookay…” He brightened. “Hey, I got the new Marvel Ultimate Alliance for XBox. I bet I could so kick your ass, Jake.”

“I’m kinda tired,” he mumbled.

Theo frowned a little, touching his shoulder. “Hey, you okay, man?”

Jake nodded, but he couldn’t bring himself to look Theo in the eye, and see that shade of perfect ocean blue.
