31_days "The time has come," the Walrus said, To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--of cabbages--and kings--and why the sea is boiling hot--And whether pigs have wings."
Aaron giggled. “I don’t like this book, Sammie. It’s such a silly story. Pigs don’t have wings!”
“I know! It’s so goofy and weird, but that’s what makes it so good. My mommy likes it, but she’s very silly.”
“I know,” he said, grinning. “She’s still not as silly as Charlie. Did you know he sang this song, it’s like really funny. It goes something like, you all every bunny,” he giggled again, dancing around the room just like Charlie had.
Sam laughed, her curly hair falling in her eyes as her book slid off her bed and onto the pink carpet. “You’re so funny. Charlie is too. I mean, who sings a song about bunnies, that’s just silly.”
“I know! Mum says he’s always been like that. She said that one time, he made her imaginary peanut butter!”
“No way,” she said, her eyes widening in awe. “How’d he do it!?”
“Nobody knows! See, my dad knows magic,” he said proudly
“Man, wish my daddy did. He painted me a pretty picture the other day, though. It was a really big polar bear, like the one your mommy and daddy saw!”
“Man, I wanna see one!”
“Me too!”
“Well, maybe one day, me and you can go into the jungle and see a polar bear for real!”
“I’d like that,” she said shyly, biting her lip.
For some reason, whenever Aaron talked about growing up, it made her feel kinda happy. She knew they were going to be very best friends forever. She also knew that she never, ever wanted him to go away.
“I’ll protect you from the mean old polar bear, if you’re scared Sam. No big meanie is going to eat my best friend!”
She grinned and kissed his cheek, giggling as his cheek warmed under her lips. “Okay, Aaron. Wanna know a secret?”
“Kay!”
“I can’t wait until we grow up.”
