Exactly! I think it's easier to ship two people who are "destined" for eachother from the start or who seem obvious for eachother. Lee and Kara were the opposite and anything but, They were perfectly WRONG for each other from "What was he to me, nothing?" And yet they were two halves of one whole so they couldn't stay away from eachother despite that. And all that messy pain and need? THAT is what I call romantic. The masses can keep their perfect fairy tale romances. I like my happy endings to be earned. (Which their's TOTALLY was and why the Daybreak/Poof was such a gigantic betrayal.)

From what I can tell from the internetz over the years, you've hit the nail on the head here. This is the reason a lot of people couldn't stand them. To me, just like you, I simply found it an honest portayal of how love and life is never easy and rarely simple.
