1. The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz. It's about a family of private investigators who are all pretty much neurotic and can't separate their work from everything else. The resulting family dynamics are really funny.
2. The Time Machine Did It by John Swartzwelder. This guy wrote fifty-nine episodes of The Simpsons back when the show was funny, so if you like The Simpsons you will almost certainly like this book. It's about a detective who's trying to stop crooks who have access to a time machine.
Of course if you want to read something more serious or whatever, I can probably think of other books I like a lot.

i really don't know what kind of books you like. hmm.
i loved "the raw shark texts" by steven hall. it's a weird book i think. and at first i thought it would be boring or something. but it end up being good. and weird. :D
and then we have "a wild ride through the night" by walter moers. it's a story about a boy who fights against death. a fantacy one, i think. so it's... a bit weird. but fun! THERE ARE SOME NAKED WOMEN (or what were they?) IN THAT BOOK! ... but it can be hard to find. i've wanted to buy it for a long time and now i've finally found one! i just HAVE to get it.
that maybe didn't help at all. :D
here in finland, oh, we have so few GOOD books compared to those that are published for example in the usa. it sucks. :/ i want more good books, but right now i have about seven books waiting to be read and... i don't have enough time! the summer's going to end and i can't read them all! nooooooooo! :D
