Review: MUGENKYOU

May 24, 2008 18:07

Yes, so I already listened to my MUGENKYOU CD by Shinkou Shuukyou Gakudan NoGoD. This album is great! I'm glad that I could support them, especially after the unpleasant incident happened to Danchou some time ago. Glad he decided not to quit singing; coz he's too awesome to leave the band. :D

All right! Even though my English isn't that good, but here's the review:
(WARNING: Long entry)

1. Maboroshi
This is a "soft" opening song. I think it's too soft for an opening, but the whole song is very beautiful and still makes you curious about rest of the songs. I like Karin's bass line here--slow but heavy, you can feel the depth in your heart. This is a short and easy-listening song. Nice CHORUS, but for first time listening, it's kinda forgettable.

2. Saikou No Sekai
Cool intro! The guitars have built the main mood of this song. Kinda heavy, but the CHORUS is less heavy and rather bouncy. This song is proper to be the lead song since it has a thick "NoGoD sound". The solo melody reminds you of the awesome Kyrie when he did the solo melody for Atria and Guren. Not to mention, the stable and strong beat from K makes this song complete. I'm happy they decided to choose this kind of heavy song as the lead song. It really represents NoGoD. ^^

3. Shirasagi
This song is rather light and easy-listening as well. With a more cheery sound, this track could probably be a favorite track. However, behind this rather light feel, Kyrie and Shinno have actually put complicated sound and melody to it. Followed by Karin's bass and K's drums, this song makes you move your head and sing along. Danchou's voice sounds great even at the high pitch! ^^

4. Shinjitsu No Hana
This can be my favorite song. The intro is very cool and fun, especially K's beat and the two guitars. The melody gives you the feel of mischief; and oh Karin's bass line is awesomeee~~! You gotta listen to the solo parts: guitar solo and bass solo. The bass solo is rather short but really thick. The guitar solo is really cool and ticklish in your ears. Kyrie and Shinno have made awesome guitar sound blend, neat and catchy. The beat of this song and Danchou's dynamic vocal makes you wanna bounce out!

5. Rinne Tenshou
The longest track of the album commonly has more mellow feel. So does this track. The simple but meaningful guitar duet, K's monotone beat and Danchou's vocal drag you into that feeling. Don't get me wrong, K's beat does sound monotone but it suits the song very well. Thanks to the solo melody (Kyrie's, if not mistaken), it gives lovely ornaments to the song. Sadly, Karin's bass line in this song sounds rather static. I guess it's not really a mistake or less-creativity, but this song is just meant to be like that. You can still enjoy this beautiful song by following the guitar melody, I promise. Kyrie and Shinno are awesome. =]

6. Atarimae
The cute bassist has done cute bass lines! =D This song really sounds cute with bouncy beat and soft cheery tone. I love how they bring a light song with rich sound! The guitar melody still sounds awesome, showing the great skills of the guitarists. This can be a favorite song as well! Everybody loves a song that can make them dance! =D This song brings you a good feeling and the ending is awesome you know. This is the cutest track of the album. ^^

7. Aozora
Awesome guitar intro! Quick and stable. K has also brought awesome beat to the song. And YAY FOR KARIN; the bass line is really awesome and oh awesome. Once again, with more fantastic skills, Kyrie and Shinno have made very rich sound of guitar. I got goosebumps (in a very good way) when I listened to this song for the first time. NoGoD has very thick and fantastic sense of musicality. Yes, musicality. Because believe it or not, this track is an instrumental. 5:46 minutes of instrumental session but you can't get bored at all! Your ears can't stop paying attention to the whole arrangement, no time for breathing! xD

8.Tsumi Batsu Egoist
This song is one of the heaviest track of the album. But I really love Danchou's vocal in this track. :D He sang all parts perfectly. Karin's bass line sounds great and you can actually catch it in the middle of the heavy and brutal guitar sound. Yes, the guitars are once again awesome. The thick guitar melody and scratch really suit the rather dark song, make it perfectly heavy but meaningful. K's double pedals action is fantastic as well. Wow, the speed.

9. Shukufuku No Uta
This song has rather more modern sound at the beginning. The feel of this song is rather similar with Shirasagi. Kinda light, full of spirit, a bit cheery; but with more hard sound. Not as easy-listening as Shirasagi, but close enough. I like the complicated sound of the solo melody part. Not the best choice to sing along, but musically awesome. If you're not sure with the members' skills yet, you can be assured by listening this song. =D

10. Yume
Finally the last track. It's WOW. The intro already gives you awesome feeling. Very cool. And Danchou's vocal is 100% perfect to deliver the main feeling of the music. This is a definitely 'dark' song, and has a rather... what you call it... "thrilling" tone? Each component of this song has perfectly wrapped into a fantastic closing track. In the middle of the song, Kyrie or Shinno (sorry dunno which one) put acoustic scratch into it--short, but impressive. The solo melody is very complicated and fast! Danchou got into the highest pitch beautifully, very cool. This is a perfect closing track.

***

That's it, perhaps. xD
I can only say that NoGoD has offered more soft songs in this album; but they still rock. Some of them are still as heavy as their previous works. Don't ask about musicality skills--these guys are awesome. This album is a great experience for your ears, very precious.
Thank God I bought this album. xD

I bought the limited edition so I got DVD. The PV is very interesting! =D
