To show that the right side of my brain has not atrophied, nor have I been completely devoid of creativity, I will post this weekend's project (accomplished when not watching Casino Royale or hanging out at blythechild's work or being lectured on investment by Dad). I have only previously owned one couch. It was given to me by my previous boss RH and was ( Read more... )

yes, the cushions are really wonderfull. good for you perservering with "la chanteuse". another reason to support other artisans is that it was, say, their IDEA to craft a giant moose head out of twigs. so while you can do it, left to your own devices you would create something else. thusly my comment about many artists being into the whole barter/swap idea outside of the crackster world.

arts and crafts is a mis-label tho....

Yeah yeah... I know those obnoxious Moms who say things like, "my kid does drawings like this modern artist" are full of crap and all... but I see nothing wrong with using say, the twig moosehead as inspiration for something comparable, but not identical, which doesn't cost hundreds of $$$.

How is Arts and Crafts a mis-label? I'm sure she has the right era, and it is made of wood. It is a bit curvilinear, I'll grant you...

i've never seen anything like it in the arts and crafts era, something which is a pet obsession with me, but hey, does it matter? if you like it then that's all thats important. i think it really suits you. kinda nice to pick yer own for a change, eh?

i'm not saying that you shouldn't turn anothers method or inspiration to your own ends. it becomes yours in the process by virtue of your style. your mind and hands. bjork has a good quote somewhere about the worthiness of pulling your "influences" from wherever and not even worrying about that, but i've forgotten it of course... just that it's a good excuse - honouring anothers idea and personal style of expression - by buying their stuff. that's what i meant...
