I went and made a looooong post on magpie & whiskeyjack about Canadian history and artists who love it. I recommend following the link for Pierre Berton. For some reason, recounting strange tales from Canadian history seemed like a good way to cheer myself up this evening.
(These paintings, for those who have even less Canadian history than Canadians*, are quite funny, if sometimes dark, to those in the know).
*Which begs the question, can one have negative historical knowledge?
