That is some serious art. Reminds me of NYC in the 80s. Really, really involved! Do the Toronto cops not patrol very often? Or is it maybe something that is commissioned?
I'm not sure how this work. There is a small segment of the subway that goes above ground and it is like a changing open gallery. The cops are definitely not keen on graffiti. However this little segment is clearly tolerated. Some of it appears commissioned (King Kong is behind a video store, the occasional business name appears amongst other things) but it still evolves and it seems that the business owners on Bloor St have embraced it rather than trying to prevent it.
This is a interesting neighbourhood - a real cross-section in all senses.
