love will tear us apart

Mar 29, 2006 10:08

so, i haven't posted in forever and last night in talking to sootch, i mentioned that i never have anything to talk about. Not entirely true, I just never have a computer around when I want to. But at this particular moment....

the point of this post:
i'm listening to the always amazing band Unbroken. Particularly their cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart."
The sadness of the song is made all the more relevant by two factors:
1) Ian Curtis, the writer of the song and lead singer of the Joy Division killed himself
2) Eric Allen, the amazing guitar player for Unbroken killed himself.

How truly sad that two talented people felt so helpless and hopeless that they tore their love from other people. The irony is astounding.

*When the routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And the resentment rides high
But emotions won’t grow
And we’re changing our ways,
Taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again

Why is the bedroom so cold
Turned away on your side?
Is my timing that flawed,
Our respect run so dry?
Yet there’s still this appeal
That we’ve kept through our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again

Do you cry out in your sleep
All my failings expose?
Get a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Is it something so good
Just can’t function no more?
When love, love will tear us apart again*
