Ben's sleeping right over there. *points*
Want to know how my whirlwind tour of the north went? Well, I'm gunna tell ya!
I got to CT on Saturday afternoon. As we drove up, I was so nervous to see Ben that I put my head in my lap when my mom said he was waiting outside. I got out of the van still not looking, then finally saw him when I turned the corner carrying my bags. He looked incredible. Crazy hair, black tshirt...it was my Ben. After an awkward interlude with my parents and Becky in the kitchen of his dad's condo, we went upstairs to talk and say Hi. I met everyone all at once that day...his dad, stepmom, brother, sister, and sister's fiance. Everyone was very nice, but I was scared (as always).
That first night we followed his dad's rules, and Ben slept in the other room.
The time we spent up there was hectic and quick. We went shopping for a dress I could wear to both weddings that are coming up. We had dinner with his dad/step-mom.
We went to Fitchburg.
This was not what I expected it to be like. Ben and I aren't used to being a couple around people who knew us before. We discussed it, and both were apparently trying to be ourselves apart and ourselves together in equal parts...but, they just didn't synchronize quite right. I didn't sleep well that night because the floor of a hot/humid apartment is not my ideal bed (or lack there of). Seeing the old gang was incredible. Chris has not changed, maybe gotten even more cynical(synical?) but he smiles it off. Neva is, well, the legendary Neva. Patricia is as thoughtful and energetic as possible. That's right...Patricia was there. It was a nice surprise to have Neva welcome Patricia into our party. She belonged there, she was part of the crew.
I was shocking numb to the landmarks of my time there, expect for a late night walk to the lower stoop with Chris and Neva that prompted some quiet tears and far away eyes. I don't know, that place just doesn't exist to me anymore.
Wednesday was hometown visit and dinner with the Yellie/Steve coolness. We hung out at Borders (which has changed, damn you), saw a movie at Loew's (it will never be AMC to me), and sat in the shade at Milk Street park. After all that we went to Dracut. (No Jessie time, sad face) Dinner with my sister and Steve was pretty awesome. We told stories and laughed and remembered and brought Ben into out circle a bit. I wish he could be around everyone more so he could become a part of the sick cult of our family.
Thursday was Ben's burphday. We did something during the day which I cannot recall, then went to dinner with his dad/stepmom/sister/brother. His dad had me eat weird things. Like sushi. The duck thingie was good, though, and the manager reccomended a pretty sweet shrimp dish. I don't know if you know this, but Ben's dad is kind of a big deal, people know him...so, we had the manager of the restraunt telling us what to eat and demanding we get this insanely complicated duck-wrap-tastiness. After dinner we went back to his dad's condo for cake and coffee. Mmmm cake...mine had a hair. Yummy. I FINALLY bonded with his dad a little...damned if I know how THAT happened...and his sister and I get along awesomely. We then went back to his sister's house for some good natured birthday fun, then went home and slept. We were trrrred.
Friday we met Ben's mommy and her Gary for a late lunch at this cute restraunt by the ocean. THE OCEAN!! YAAAAAAY! The food was tasty goodness, and his mommmmmmmmmmmmmy was nice and cute. The Gary thing was, well, interesting. He gave us a map...his mom gave us mad cash-monies.
The ride back....SUCKED.
The end.
Now, we are home. Our home....which we will be moving from SOONNNNNNNNN
Love ya! Bye! <333
