Cho felt a fleeting touch, a light hand brushing her slumped shoulder.
“I am sorry about your friend,” a soft voice said in halting, broken English.
Cho raised her bent head.
In the days since Cedric’s death Cho had moved in a circle of silence, people parting as she walked by, afraid she would shatter if she was spoken to or looked at, much less touched.
Cho had thought that was what she wanted, to be left alone forever, but when Fleur Delacour touched her, Cho remembered she was still alive. Still flesh and blood, not yet a ghost herself.
