HER RESOLUTION
“I promise I’ll never hurt you.” Bellatrix whispered in the aftermath of their lovemaking, soft kisses covering his neck and chest.
He laughed. “Luckily for you, I don’t believe you love.”
“No never... You’re family, I love you...”
He laughed indulgently. Her resolution seemed so strong. A man of lesser character might even believe her. But he knew better. He’d seen many of those men become trampled underfoot in Bellatrix’ haste to reach the top.
And now, facing her in what would surely be a fight to the death, he saw that the resolution made years ago meant nothing now.
