Let me just say that the person who left that rude, heartless comment in Shannon's LJ deserves to die painfully and brutally. Seriously. To think that there is some homophobic Grand Island coward hiding behind a computer and leaving anonymous comments slandering Shannon for being a lesbian, that's just wrong.
If you're homophobic, fine. But keep that to yourself. You don't have to go out of your way to make someone else feel bad. It's not like they'll suddenly say "Omg, this person called me a dyke, now I don't want to be a lesbian anymore!" It's not a game, it's a sexual preference. It doesn't change that easily.
Now, I don't know what it feels like because I'm not a lesbian, but I can just imagine how hard it is to deal with. So many secrets, so many fears. The fear of telling your parents, the fear of losing friends, the fear of going on dates. It has to be hard. The last thing they would need is for their peers to be idiots.
Anyways, I think it's a shame that people are that cold-hearted.
