I love the Honor Code. It allows me so many freedoms and priviledges. Mutual trust is an amazing thing.
But I also respect it so much - it's so damn powerful. It's so easy to break it, but you feel morally obliged to uphold it. It can bring out the best and worst in people, as in when they uphold it and don't break it, or, conversely, when they feel that they are implicated (the "oh my god, i feel guilty" character). And it can cause such a change in a person. Issues with it can shatter your concentration for a long time.
I have so much more respect now for those who are on the Board of Control (BOC). The BOC are the people who are the basically the council that oversees potential Honor Code violations, judges potential violators, and then deals with either dismissal of the case or sentencing (that's actually a bad word for it, because its not punishment, but rather rehabilitation). They have amazing mental toughness.
