I ran into this website (
http://www.ochenk.com/entry.php?id=63) which has sound files of white noise played at different frequencies to test the range of your hearing. I found that (via headphones) I can clearly hear up to 18,000 Hz, and I can just barely hear 19,000 Hz. It drops out all together at 20,000 Hz, but it still gives me that uncomfortable head-in-a-vice feeling all the way up to about 23,000 Hz.
An interesting side effect of this test is that the tones between 17,000 Hz through 25,000 Hz seem to drive
prestonthecat batshit insane.
We were planning to get a water pistol to keep him from scratching our furniture. I think I may have stumbled onto a better method...
