As the Christmas holiday nears, I firmly believe that there are a plethora of people driving that do not drive any other time of the year. For instance, tonight there was a guy who chose to take a "short-cut" across a grassy median ditch rather that going up to the light, that was only a block away, and making a U-turn. For his "short-cut," the police had to rescue his low-rider from the ditch. Then there is the car that was driving on the wrong side of the median strip outside Wal-Mart the other day. The car just casually turned into the wrong side of the road and then casually moved to the other side when there was a break in the median. Good thing I was only an observer and not driving on the road at the time.
On a sad note, however, I went to my favorite chinese restaurant in Frederick and apparently they are closing. It was a great little family owned restaurant. It wasn't one of the big buffets, just a simple menu and great prices. Under $4 would get you a main dish, rice, egg roll, soup, hot tea and water at any time of the day. The serving size was more than enough for two meals. It was a great deal and the food tasted great. Apparently, the restaurant was well liked by everyone. Just tonight, I was sitting alone at a table and there were two guys sitting across the restaurant from me talking about CDs and friends being away at college. The one left to smoke a cigarette and came in and told the other guy that there was a sign on the door saying they were closing due to the owner's retirement. They talked about it for a while, and then the guy walked up to the counter and shook hands with the owner and said thanks for all the hard work over the years. My heart almost melted at that point, it was so great to know that others liked the restaurant as much as I did.
