I'm making some more blocks for Barbara C. The first two were using a pattern from a magazine that made a scarf. The scarf was 6" wide, so I figured I would just doubt it. As I crocheted on, I saw that it wanted to pull in a little, but I knew I could fix that with a bit of blocking. I then made the other blocks with a reversible pop-corn stitch without trouble. I then went to start the longer border blocks. Since we were back to the scarf pattern, I figured I could just follow it as it said, since she only wanted them 6" wide.
I finish the first repeat and measure it. It is 6" without having to change it at all. That means that it is now too tall. I'm so confused! Now I'm trying to tweak the pattern to make it work for the length she wants...
