Thanks in the Rain
Had a great time this morning in the rain. 2 red aussies, 2 black border collies, and one striped Staffy. Rory quickly figured out that even though Tully is much shorter than she is, she can't just lie down on top of her or otherwise dominate her. Tully mostly did her own non-herding-dog thing, but all the dogs did well together. Fortunately for Razor, the other dogs felt the need to bark at an oncoming pedestrian at one point, so he wasn't the only dog to bark today. It was lots of fun watching the dogs learn one another's styles and figure out how to play with one another. The humans shivered watching dogs plunge into the river. Even Tully went in further than expected.
Thanks to barjor for organizing and nosemovie and gumbypuppy for supplying dogs and good conversation. Laid back and easy going, with a little sliding in the clay for seasoning! My only note of sadness was that such a hike is now more than my princess can handle. I can't complain -- she'll soon be 14 and can still do (slowly) a 2-mile walk, but it was hard to tell her she had to stay home today.
